Campus Cook, Seasonal Position

The Carpenter’s Boat Shop is hiring a Campus Cook to oversee provisioning, cooking, kitchen repairs and maintenance for our nine month Apprenticeship. This individual will be a key member of a small dynamic team that provides leadership and mentorship for apprentices as well as open enrollment students and volunteers throughout the year.
The Campus Cook will work alongside the Executive Director (ED) and Program Director (PD) to provide meals and provisioning for our staff, apprentices, volunteers, and students.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee provisioning, meal planning, and preparation
- Mentor apprentices in meal preparation, emphasizing kitchen safety, cleanliness, and producing nutritious, delicious meals for groups of 10-20 people
- Manage the food budget in collaboration with the Executive Director
- Work closely with the Executive and Program Directors to coordinate weekly food and scheduling needs
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness and proper maintenance of kitchen equipment
- Facilitate and supervise housekeeping duties
- Coordinate and manage kitchen repairs and needs in partnership with the Fleet and Facilities Manager
- Oversee housing arrangements for apprentice living quarters
- Manage hospitality needs for the Barn Chapel and all guest lodging
Required knowledge and skills:
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation and safety protocols
- Proficient in budget management
- Proven ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues in a dynamic environment, including the ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide a team to successfully complete tasks
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication with the Executive Director and Program Director to address all program needs
- Collaborative team player

Compensation Package:
Salary Range: $22,000 – $27,000
