Monhegan Skiff Half Model Weekend with Bruce Swift and Steve Morris

December 7th-8th, 2024 ($350) Carpenter’s Boat Shop is offering a two day course in making an accurate half model of our famous Monhegan Skiff. Course instructors are Bruce Swift and Steve Morris, experienced boat builders, woodworkers, and half model aficionados. Topics of discussion will include the history of half models and analysis of the actual line drawings of the Skiff. Participants will learn how to transfer the line drawings into an accurate three dimensional half model. Hands-on activity will include the use of power tools, principally the bandsaw, the router table, and the jointer. Hand tools will be used to accurately shape the models. Skill session discussions will include the use of hand planes, the sanding and finishing of your model, and finally making and mounting it on a presentation board.
